How to Participate
It’s easy! Volunteer to clean up an area on the shore, in the water or on the ice.
Mismanaged trash that escapes into waterways affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the places that we depend on for tourism and recreation.
Take a moment to sign up online so that you can record your cleanups. As cleanups are recorded, the information on our home page will automatically update to track the result of our collective efforts.
Pick it up
Remove trash from the shoreline, water or ice and separate and properly dispose of recyclables and non-recyclables.
Record a cleanup
You’ll be asked to enter your site location, the type and weight of the trash found (an estimate will do), the number of participants, and the total amount of time spent.
Lead by example
Share info about your cleanup with friends and neighbors in person and online and encourage them to pick up trash and record their work on the Mille Lacs Trash Tracker.
